BY-LAWS OF THE FEDERATION OF EUROPEAN PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGY SOCIETIES

I) AIMS
- The promotion of basic and applied research in all areas of psychophysiology throughout Europe.
- The promotion of teaching programmes in psychophysiology at European Universities, and other centers of higher education, and the coordination of these programmes among the different member-societies.
- The helding of scientific meetings on psychophysiology organized by the participating societies wich will normally take place every 2 years.
- The promotion, and management of the "Journal of Psychophysiology".
- The representation of the Federation at European organizations in order to provide information to the public about prospects and applications of psychophysiological research, and to gather information about European funding and to pass that information on to the members of the Federation.
- To promote the application of Psychophysiology.
II) THE BOARD OF DELEGATES
- The governing body of the Federation consists of the board of delegates and the executive committee. The board of delegates will have supervision and control of the affairs of the Federation through the executive committee.
- The board consists of one delegate of each member-society. The executive committee consists of a president, a vice-president, a secretary and a treasurer who are members of a member-society. Members of the executive committee are elected through postal ballot by the board of delegates. Members of the executive committee cannot also be members of the board of delegates. The term of office for executive officer is 2 years renewable once by election.
- The president calls the meetings of the executive committee and prepares the agenda which is suggested by the board. The approved minutes will be distributed among the delegates. The executive committee prepares a yearly report on its activity for the member-societies.
- The vice-president will be chair-person in the president's absence. In case of disability or resignation of the president the vice-president will perform the duties of the president. In the case of premature retirement by another officer of the executive committee, s/he will be replaced by postal ballot.
- The treasurer is responsible for receipt, custody and disbursement of all funds of the Federation. The secretary writes the minutes of all meetings and prepares the annual report. The treasurer will present a written report about the financial situation of the Federation at the conferences.
- The board of delegates makes decisions about the Federation by a simple majority with the consideration of the constitution of the member-societies. Changes of the by-laws require a majority of two thirds of the votes.
- The board of delegates will meet with the executive committee at the scientific meetings of the Federation.
- The editor of the journal will be co-opted to the executive committee.
III) THE JOURNAL OF PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGY
- The Journal of Psychophysiology is the official journal of the Federation. The task of the editorial advisory board and the associate editors is to make the Journal competitive in the field and to do the editorial work following as high a scientific standard as possible.
- Each member society appoints one member to the editorial advisory board. The board then elects the editor who need not to be a member of the editorial advisory board. Members of the editorial advisory board will be in office for 3 years and the editor for 6 years. Both terms of office are renewable.
- The editor and the editorial advisory board will select the associate editors who will cover the scientific area represented in the Journal. Their term of office is 3 years and renewable.
- Members of the executive committee will be co-opted to the meetings of the editorial board.
- The abstracts of the scientific meetings of the Federation will be published by the Journal as well as those of the annual conferences of the participating Societies.
IV) COMMITTEES
- The executive committee can appoint committees with the approval of the delegates.
V) THE BIANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING
- Member-societies make suggestions about hosting the scientific meetings of the Federation.
- The board of delegates decides upon their location by a simple majority.
- The executive committee together with the local organiser form a scientific conference committee in which all member-societies are represented.
VI) DUES
- Each member-society contributes a fixed amount of money per full member to the Federation, to be proposed and decided unanimously by the board of delegates.
