Announcement] [Call for Abstracts] [ Preliminary Programme] [Registration]BRITISH PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGY SOCIETY

I am pleased to announce the programme for the 30th British Psychophysiology Society Conference which will be held in Glasgow from September 23rd -25th 2002. Three themes dominate this year's conference: Functional Imaging, Cortical Oscillations & Consciousness and Ergonomics. Following on from last year's successful conference in Aston, the theme of functional imaging is particularly strong. Professor Nikos Logothetis of the
Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, Tübingen will be giving a keynote talk and there are two symposia on imaging themes: 'Imaging of Human Reward Systems' organised by Dr Rebecca Elliot of Manchester University and 'Mulitmodal Imaging' organised by Dr Krish Singh of Aston. The resurgence of interest in consciousness is reflected in a key note presentation by Dr Catherine Tallon-Baudry of INSERM, Lyon, on 'Gamma Oscillations and Consciousness' and a symposium on the same topic organised is being organised by Dr Jochen Kaiser of Tübingen. The society has a long standing interest in ergonomics and this year our conference is being held in conjunction with the Psychophysiology in Ergonomics (PIE) annual conference which is being held in the same venue on the 22nd September. Details of the PIE conference are available at: http://www.uni-wuppertal.de/FB3/psychologie/physio/pie.htm. The Ergonomic theme is represented by a keynote talk by Prof John Stern of Washington University and a symposium on 'The Psychophysiology of Workload and Stress'.
There is also a Free Presentation session and a Poster Session, so if your research doesn't fit into any of the symposia, there is still a place for you to present your work. For the 3rd year running, we are offering scholarships for students doing work in psychophysiology to attend conferences to present their work. For details, please contact me by e-mail.
As usual, much of the work of the conference is done outside of the formal sessions and I hope that this tradition continues. The last Glasgow conference was a great success both academically and socially and the Conference Banquet and Ceilidh should do much to ensure that our return to the city will be equally memorable. I hope to see you in Glasgow in September.
